Our Story
HillEng was founded by Lincoln Hill, a senior mechanical engineer with over 25 years of experience across commercial, institutional, government, and residential projects throughout NSW and Queensland.
Based in the Newcastle area, we work with architects, developers, contractors. builders, and building owners to deliver mechanical engineering services that are practical, compliant, and cost-effective.
We believe good engineering is about more than compliance — it's about understanding the building, the client's goals, and the constraints of the project, then delivering a solution that works in the real world.
How We Work

We work closely with the full design team — architects, structural engineers, hydraulic engineers, and builders — to deliver coordinated, buildable designs.

Lincoln has over 25 years of experience delivering mechanical engineering services across a broad range of building types. He is personally involved in every project HillEng undertakes, from initial concept through to construction completion. From commercial developments to community facilities, Lincoln helps clients navigate compliance and leads teams to deliver clever, cost-effective designs that keep projects running smoothly. During this time Lincoln has been designing Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems for a broad range of Commercial, Government, Institutional, Clubs Aged Care and Residential jobs. Lincoln has a strong focus on communication and practical/ buildable solutions to find the best system for each individual project. In addition to his time working on mechanical designs, he has completed work as a commissioning agent, providing BCA Section J guidance, energy efficiency reviews and NABERS energy assesments.
Qualifications & Accreditations
CPEng
Chartered Professional Engineer status through Engineers Australia — the benchmark of engineering competence and professionalism in Australia.
RPEQ
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland — required for engineering work on regulated projects in Queensland.
NSW DBP Act Design Practitioner
Registered Design Practitioner under the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 — required for Class 2 building work in NSW.
NABERS Accredited Assessor
Accredited to conduct NABERS Energy assessments for office buildings — providing independent, government-recognised energy ratings.
NCC Compliance for Mechanical Services and Part J
Experienced in National Construction Code (NCC) compliance across all building classes, including Mechanical services and Section J energy efficiency requirements.
